Definition
Word that shows action or state of being is called a Verb.

Action word is called a Verb.
Kinds Of Verbs
There are three kinds of Verbs:-
Transitive Verb
If a Verb needs an object to complete the sense, it is called a Transitive Verb.
Examples-
- Farmers grow wheat.
- The gardener watered the plants.
- Leela sang a song.
Intransitive Verb
If a Verb doesn't need an object to complete the sense, it is called an Intransitive Verb.
Examples-
- Birds fly.
- Dogs bark.
- The Sun rose.
Helping Verb/ Auxiliary
A Verb which helps the main Verb to form a Tense, is called a Helping Verb or an Auxiliary.
Examples-
- Liza is going home.
- My father will come tomorrow.
- The cows were grazing on the grass.
The correct use of Verb
Hope means 'to expect something good.'
- I hope she will fail.❎
- I fear she will fail. ✅
Look at implies attention; see doesn't imply attention.
- Please look at the blackboard.✅
- Please see at the blackboard.❎
Listen to implies attention; hear doesn't imply attention.
- I can hear his voice.✅
- I can listen to his voice.❎
- You should listen to what the teacher says.✅
- You should hear what the teacher says.❎
We say our prayers; not speak our prayers.
- I say my prayers daily.✅
- I speak my prayers daily.❎
We don't say make a goal; we say score a goal.
- They made a goal.❎
- They scored a goal.✅
